Web Cam Live feed

Postby look-b4u-book » Fri Nov 29, 2002 5:23 pm

Most of our sites are hosted with host rocket and we thought they were hard to beat, especially their control panel interface, but yours is better by far.

One suggestion would be software at a low cost for web cam live feed, any intensions for this in all accounts. ?

We have been getting more and more requests on how to use live cams on website's.

I have heard that this company is very good for the price:

http://www.inetcam.com/products/packages/personal_user/ivista_vav.phtml

As far as adding it in the control panel, I think that is a great idea and will be looked at in our next updates meeting.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the info - inetcam was one we looked at and although it's excellent for the price, the demo version crashed on us a few times...if they iron out a few bugs then the next release will be a definite purchase!

Also, a 1-1 chat feature to go with the live cam would be helpful, as this is proving most difficult to find  . Both the cgi chat and PHPMyChat are far more than we need, allowing multiple users and extra rooms etc....maybe you could source one that would do the job and add that feature too (free, of course) :P

It's great to hear some feedback on the cam software.

If you know of any others let us know.

We will do some more re-search and post anything here that we can come up with.

Thanks

We've temporarily settled for VisionGS software (www.visiongs.com) - easier to setup and use than inetcam, and more stable for now, too. Only drawback is that it doesn't give you the option of transmitting audio along with the video stream.

It'll do for now, though - will keep you posted if we find any better.

Anyone heard of this yet?

I use orange for transfering files from my cam to my computer and it works better then anything else I have ever used. The company has a great reputation, it just sounds too good to be true

Web Cam on our sites

Postby heavenly » Fri Dec 20, 2002 10:38 am

One of the things I need to get on my site for each of my people is webcam chat.
I was under the impression that I needed som esort of server software for this. Is this true or do we have that ability already?
Also, if it's not needed what for the cheapest price has proven to be the best, voice is not needed.

Web Cam and Chat

Postby MistressPower » Mon Dec 30, 2002 8:48 pm

I have been beta testing and also buying many different types of softwares for about 5 years. I have a few sites that I stream in my members sections right now as well.

Inetcam, I though was great at first but recently they seemed to have limited the bandwith to 128kbs on their "Personal Webcasting" product unless you want to pay more. I only found this out after I purchased the latest version and only read it in the GUI of the actual software. I have not found that they adverstise thier limitations online. I could be wrong though.

Any stream one produces has to be at least 150Kbs upload from the producers/servers end ... for a clear show. Now the recievers also have to have a higher speed connection as well in order to see a clear and smooth show.

I usually know what works good for what type of system you have and how many audience members you want to be able to access your feed.
I also know the high end products to the lower budget and even free software and scripts one needs to stream. So, If you need more help, give me the details and I can reply to that.
