Lower case file names and extensions with Windows XP, please

Postby castellana » Sun Jun 15, 2003 8:51 am

Dear everyone who can help!

I have just replaced my PC, and the new one came with Windows XP Home Edition which is what I have used in the past, and it is fine with me. In the past, however, ALL FILE NAMES AND EXTENSIONS showed up in lower case, making things much more simple. I cannot seem to find WHERE to change that feature in the new computer system, and all of the sudden many of my files are showing up like they were created: some upper case, some lower case. This is going to be a problem with the existing HTML code and... you get the point!

Anyway, can you help? In the past, this forum has been awesome, by the way!!! Thanks so much!

Hmmmm, sounds like a pain to rename a bunch of files.

There may be a utility that can rename all the files that are in your website. I know dreamweaver has this built in, I guess I am lucky that I don't have windows XP at this point.

Maybe download.com will have something to help change the names.

Or like you said a XP user might know how to tweak the settings to recognize the pages.

Wish I had a better answer

I have a program, TweakXP, that can help with renaming. But rather than RENAMING, I would just like to have it like it was before: no matter what the case was all the files came up lowercase.
I have been going nuts trying to find the setting. I know it is in there SOMEWHERE.
Thanks so much for your help.
